SIGNATURE KEYNOTE

Inventing the Future 2050

The converging forces reshaping global power, prosperity and human progress, and the strategic choices defining 2050.

THE KEYNOTE

Forecasting is not the useful part of futurism. Decisions are. This keynote takes the forces already visible — machine intelligence, demographic inversion, energy transition, the redrawing of economic power towards the Gulf and Asia — and works backwards to the choices a leadership team is making this year that will still be compounding in 2050.

Dr Kate Barker has spent her career inside the rooms where those choices get made, advising heads of state, sovereign entities and global chief executives across the Gulf, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. As the world’s first Chief Futurist she has built the discipline in practice rather than in theory, and the keynote reflects that: it is about capital allocation, institutional design and where a country or a company decides to place its bet.

The session gives an audience a defensible view of the next twenty-five years, the signals worth tracking, the ones that are noise, and a method for holding long-range strategy without becoming captive to a single scenario.

Especially suited to mainstage openings and closings, government and policy forums, investor and sovereign wealth audiences, and multi-day programmes needing a frame that holds the whole agenda together.

OUTCOMES

What the room leaves with

  • A defensible view of the converging forces shaping the next twenty-five years.

  • Which signals genuinely predict structural change, and which are noise dressed as insight.

  • How to hold long-range strategy without betting the institution on one scenario.

  • The decisions being made now that will still be compounding in 2050.

Kate brought a perspective our leaders needed to hear. In an industry managing profound technological, workforce and economic change at the same time, she connected those forces in a way that was both challenging and highly relevant. She is dynamic on stage, but the substance is what carries the session. Our leaders left looking beyond the immediate transformation to the decisions that will shape what comes next.
