Why the AI committee is the wrong governance answer

A working argument that the sub-committee is the worst place for AI accountability — and where it should sit instead.

Why the AI committee is the wrong governance answer

AI is not an audit problem. AI is not a risk problem. AI is not a strategy problem. AI is, increasingly, the condition under which the audit, risk and strategy work are done. That makes any sub-committee a worse home for it than the main board.

The main board can carry an operating condition. A sub-committee can carry a category. The right move, in most cases, is to retire the sub-committee with thanks, and let the main board own the doctrine in writing.
